Twinning Agreement between Zouk Mikael and Rueil-Malmaison

On April 17th, 2009, and under the auspices of the Minister of Culture, Tammam Salam, the French city Rueil-Malmaison and the Lebanese city Zouk Mikael signed a twinning protocol aiming to strengthen relations between the two cities and establish cooperation and mutual assistance programs in various fields, particularly in the cultural, athletic and economic fields.

The protocol signing was attended by the two mayors: former President of the French Parliament Patrick Ollier, and lawyer Nouhad Naufal, as well as the Minister of Interior Affairs and Municipalities Ziad Baroud, and the French Ambassador André Parrain. H.E Baroud and Ambassador Parrain both delivered a speech that highlighted the importance of the occasion, emphasizing the depth of Lebanese-French relations in general, especially the link that combines the two sister cities through more than one program of cooperation in the fields of youth, sports, culture, environment and sustainable development. Then, Mayors Ollier and Naufal signed the twinning protocol, and Ambassador Parrain and Minister Baroud signed as witnesses.

On April 26th, 2019, the two cities, represented by their mayors Patrick Ollier and Elias Al-Beainou, committed to renewing the twinning protocol and establishing new and mutual cooperation programs in various fields, most notably: music, arts, theater, sports and security. The signing ceremony was attended by Minister Ziad Baroud, Governor of Mount Lebanon Judge Muhammad Mekkawi, and a representative of the French Ambassador Bruno Foucher.
