“Al-Mir” coffee shop located in the Old Souk, is a precious archeological landmark from the end of the seventieth century.

Many famous protagonists visited the coffee shop.

It is said that Great Prince “Bashir Al-Shihabi” himself payed more than once visit to the coffee-shop, as well as Youssef Beik Karam who held meeting with his Zouki supporters.

Zouki people still reminisce about their numerous encounters with the poet Mr. “Elias Abou Chabke” in this coffee shop. Zouk mayor Mr. Nouhad Nawfal held a ceremony in honor of the poet, and hung a copper plate on the coffee shop’s wall as a reminder of how often the poet used to sit there where he got inspired for years.

The coffee shop was renovated by the municipal council in the late 1980s and is nowadays considered a heritage and landmark treasure.
